Early Morning Chaos!
What do you do when your child wakes up vomiting at 4:00 in the morning? Do you panic, or does instinct take control? Well, I can tell you from my experience, I run on auto-pilot. My oldest son, who’s 5, came to our bed around 2:30 am. All was well in the the house at that time… It was a couple hours later that chaos ensued! I awoke to his small cough, and instantly knew what was about to happen. I jumped up out of bed to rush him to the bathroom! Unfortunately, we didn’t quite make it. Instead… vomit spilled onto the hardwood floor of our room. After the first bout, I managed to carry him to the bathroom, where he continued vomiting into the toilet. My husband stumbled out of bed just as I heard my younger son (he’s 2 1/2) make the same vomit cough. I yelled to my husband, “Hurry, gt eli out of the bed before he throws up!” He ran in there, scooped Eli up, and just as I called out, “Watch out for the throw up on the floor,” promptly fell flat on his back. He dropped Eli, who bumped his head and immediately started wailing while heaving. I hurried back to the bedroom, repeatedly asked my husband if he was ok, and took Eli to the bathroom where both boys proceeded to take turns with their heads over the toilet. I left them momentarily to check on my husband, who still hadn’t answered me about his condition. By then, he was standing, but in pain. The boys had stopped vomiting and the three of them went to sit on the couch to recuperate for the time being. I still had to clean up the vomit on the floor, so just as I managed to find an old towel, I heard the baby throw up! She’s 11 months, and obviously can’t wake herself up ahead of time, so of course the crib bedding and her face was a mess! All this chaos happened in a matter of 5 minutes! What a way to start the day! I did manage to get everyoneand everything cleaned up. I got the little ones back in bed, and hubby back to work all while our oldest daughter (who’s 17) managed to stay sleeping downstairs. The rest of the day was spent resting, and recovering. Today no one woke up vomiting… so it’s looking brighter already!
